Outlook Express / Outlook Mac

POP3 (Post Office Protocol) Mail is the most common mail access protocol that allows your email client (Outlook Express, Microsoft Outlook, Eudora, Netscape Messenger, etc.) to download your email messages to your computer so that you can read them later without being connected to the Internet. This feature is especially important if your connection time is chargeable.

Step-by-Step Guide

To setup a POP3 email access from Outlook (Mac), here's a step-by-step guide:

  1. Run Outlook


  2. Click Tools, select Accounts

  3. Click on the Mail tab and select New, Mail, Configure Account Manually

  4. Select POP and click OK.

  5. Fill in the details where [mydomain.com] is your registered domain name, eg. geromail.com:

    Click on the 'Click here for advanced receiving options' link.


  6. Check the box next to 'SMTP server requires authentication':

  7. Close this portion of the dialogue box, and then close the configuration dialogue box.
